The Department of Energy (DOE) has enormous plans for the future of nuclear weapons production. The plan to increase nuclear pit production from 20 to 80 pits a year in Los Alamos is small compared to their new proposal for a massive refurbishment of the entire nuclear weapons complex. They call this Complex 2030 with a grossly under-estimated price tag of $155 billion. They intend to consolidate all the nuclear weapons facilities all over the country so that they will be able to handily produce new nuclear weapons at an astonishing rate.
